Whether you are writing a novel, nonfiction book or memoir and want a printed copy, there are many things to think about, such as paper quality and colour, hard cover or soft cover, what sort of binding you want. Along with the options of a book in colour or black and white. Do you want to include photos? Will I get a proof copy to approve before printing? There are many things to think about when printing a book.
Jo Rusbridge has over 20 years’ experience in the print industry which gives her a thorough understanding of the processes involved in creating a self-published book. Jo can provide support and information you require whilst putting your book together. Jo helps make the book design and printing process as enjoyable and as smooth as possible. Her experience, technical expertise and attention to detail will ensure that your book project is in very safe hands.

Have you ever read a book that just felt effortless, or been so drawn to a book cover that you almost didn’t need to read the blurb? Great page layout and strong evocative cover design make a huge difference to your readers experience, which can be as vital as the story line or content.
Margot will be leading this Novel Ideas session together with Grant Mangin. Margot and Grant are seasoned professionals in the design and marketing space. They have both published multiple books and supported other authors to self-publish.

Leanne Wickham - In Red Pencil
Leanne Wickham is book coach, editor and proofreader based in Christchurch, working with authors worldwide. Her passion for reading has led to a decade long career working with new and established authors to publish their work.
Margot Korhonen - Author + Artist
Margot Korhonen is an author and artist with a passion for community. Her second book Creating Connected Communities was published in February 2024. she is building a movement inspired by helping make a difference.
